- PhD (Management Sciences)

Academic institutions pride themselves over their advances in research. Research is the best source of differentiation in academia. In fact, research is considered a critical success factor for academic institutions.
1. For admission into the PhD minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or First Division (in the Annual System) in M.Phil. / M.S. / Equivalent shall be required.
2. A subject test conducted by ARC General and ARC Subjective in the area of specialization chosen at the PhD level shall be cleared prior to admission for the PhD Program.
a. In the case of GAT Subject test a minimum of 60% marks shall be required to pass the test.
b. In the case GRE subject test, the minimum score shall be acceptable as follows:
i. 50% Percentile Score: Valid for Admissions until December 31, 2011.
ii. 60% Percentile Score: Valid for Admissions thereafter.
c. If the Test is not available in NTS subject list, then Institute Committee consisting of at least 3 PhD faculty members in the subject area and approved by the HEC shall conduct the Test at par with GRE Subject Test and qualifying score for this will be 70% score.
Course work of 18 credit hours preferably in the first year shall be required to be completed and followed by a comprehensive examination for granting candidacy as PhD researcher.
PhD DISSERTATION RULES
The Ph.D. Dissertation must be evaluated by at least two Ph.D. experts from technologically/academically advanced foreign countries in addition to local Committee members.
I Submission of Theses
i. The students shall be required to defend the theses as may be prescribed by the Board of Advanced Studies & Research (BASR)
ii. Two copies of each thesis shall be delivered to the office of the Faculty Dean. Additional copies of the thesis shall be delivered as required by the Dean's Office.
iii. Copies of the theses submitted shall be of satisfactory physical quality for deposit in the archives.
iv. All theses submitted shall become the permanent physical property of the Institute, hence any further publication in whole or in part by the author shall be made only by authorization of the Dean's Office.
II. Foreign Expert Evaluation:
The Ph.D. Dissertation shall be evaluated by at least two Ph.D. experts from technologically / academically advanced foreign countries in addition to local Committee members.
III. Open Defense:
An open defense of Dissertation shall be part of PhD Program after positive evaluation.
IV. Research Paper:
Acceptance/publication of at least one research paper in an HEC approved "X" category journal shall be a requirement for the award of Ph.D. degree.
V. Plagiarism Test:
The Plagiarism Test shall be conducted on the Dissertation before its submission to the two foreign experts.
VI. Copy of PhD Dissertation to HEC:
A copy of Ph.D. Dissertation (both hard and soft) shall be submitted to HEC for record in Ph.D. Country Directory and for attestation of the PhD degree by the HEC in future.
PhD EXAMINATION RULES
There shall be Course Work of 18 credit hours followed by a Comprehensive Examination.
. A student will be given 3 years for the completion of his/her Thesis for PhD, starting from the date of his/her provisional admission. An extension of 2 more years will be given in case of non-completion or rejection of PhD Thesis.
. A research paper on the topic of the PhD Thesis must be accepted/published by a HEC approved journal before the Viva Voce Examination.
. In order to earn the PhD Degree, the Thesis must contain:
o Original work evidenced by discovery of new facts or by the exercise of independent critical judgment.
o Addition to existing knowledge of the relevant field.
